Another Clark Street Board-up

Storefronts along Clark Street have been taking a beating for the past few years. Starting with the teardown of the Adelphi Theater (7000 block of Clark Street), the burning of the buildings directly next to the Adelphi demolition site, the bakery burning, the El Morales teardown, and now the Mobil board-up. You can bet the the Clark Mega Mall sale and teardown is next.

Each boardup/teardown/burndown in Rogers Park, is followed by the same pattern: Gang activity, graffiti, trash dump, and public eyesore.

It won’t be long before this gets much worse. I’ve photographed this process enough times in Rogers Park to be sure. I will document the decay here with photos, because photos never lie.
